We walk because others must walk…for water, food and other basic necessities.

The Ninth Annual New York City CROP Hunger Walk took place on Sunday, May 3, 2009

CLOSING THE GAP WITH A "RAIN CHECK"

We had a great 9th Annual New York City CROP Hunger Walk this year on May 3 -- despite the rain!!  An excellent spirit pervaded the walk this year -- even despite the rain and the difficult economy and -- even despite a slightly longer route.  One of our Walkers spoke for many others when she wrote, "Despite the rain it was fun!!"  Another Walker said, "the rain made for a greater sense of esprit de corps, and everyone seemed to feel a greater sense of accomplishment." 

Unfortunately, we still have some distance to go to match last year's total.  Would you consider asking your congregation for a special offering, or for a chance to have a CROP Walk table during coffee hour after the service to collect more checks?  Or contact a few more family members and friends you didn't get in touch with the first time around?  Given the tremendous needs around us here in New York and around the world we very much hope we can match or better yet exceed last year's total of  $ 35,410.50.
